As promised I write to you with news of great Scouting taking place in Northern Norwich!
Nationally, February is recognised as You Shape month. In line with this I challenged Groups in the District to submit photos with details of examples of young people taking the lead and driving their scouting experiences themselves.
First up rising to the challenge were the 1st Taverham Scouts who had as part of their programme already planned a Troop Patrol Leaders night where the Patrol Leaders planned, organised and ran the Troop meeting. I’m sure this gave the PLs great experience and an insight into what it takes to run a Troop. The Scouts certainly enjoyed themselves.
At the 44th Cub Pack meeting their Young Leaders were given more responsibility and were supporting the Cubs on Pancake Night – again great experience gained by the YLs with support of the Pack Leaders …….. and the pancakes were delicious – thanks Cubs!
As well as photos from these Groups, it was great to see evidence of enjoyment in Scouting in the District. Have a look at the Cubs at the 27th Norwich playing a game of Hungry Hippos – I wonder if that would make a great team building game at a Leaders Day!!
The 16th Norwich Sea Scouts have been Star Gazing, while their Beaver Scouts have been developing their baking skills. More baking but with the 1st Spixworth Beavers this time – they enjoyed a visit to Tescos where they made fruit kebabs and bread and had the opportunity to try different varieties of cheese as part of Tesco’s “Farm to Fork”.
As is usual, I’m reminded of the fantastic support and commitment of the leaders in the Groups in Northern Norwich, whose enthusiasm and limitless
energy gives our young people these opportunities to try new things, develop skills and have fun together.
Thanks to all.
Lisa
