I am the Cub Scout Leader at the 3rd & 4th Norwich and have been in the role since September 2017. I am an ex-Royal Marine Commando who loves the outdoors and as a youngster was a member of the 2nd Hellesdon Cubs and Scouts. I joined as a Leader because I wanted to help give young people some fantastic experiences and have great fun in the process. I know I did!
Since taking on the role I have arranged visits to Seething Observatory and Sprowston Fire station. We also had a visit from the Norwich Blind Institute and attended Jamboree on the Air.
Over the summer the pack will be attending the Jamboree on the Trail, Cubs on the Water and the Norjam Cub Day.
When the Cubs discovered I worked for the Ambulance Station they asked if they could visit a station. So, on Tuesday 17 April, we visited Longwater Ambulance station and one of my colleagues ran the night. The Cubs got to go inside the back of the ambulance, looked at the kit used by Paramedics, sat in the front and turned the lights on. To help achieve their Emergency Aid stage 1 and 2 activity badge they were shown how to apply bandages, along with various other first aid techniques such as CPR.
Great fun all round with lots more on the agenda for the coming months.
