Saturday 6th October found 54 Beavers exploring the wetlands at Pensthorpe Natural Park (and yes, it was wet!)
The Beavers from four Colonies spent the day feeding the vast array of ducks and geese, following nature trails and learning interesting facts about animals, birds and insects – who knew how long Freddie Frog can live or the length Gracie Grass Snake grows to? Time was spent in the Hides, watching birds on the wader scrape, learning aboutthe 49 Flamingos and the Conservation Project for Red Squirrels, who were very cute. Around the trails we discovered amazing sculptures including a giant ant and bee, played Pooh sticks and watched graceful underwater swimming by the ducks.
Pensthorpe Staff looked after us very well making our visit really enjoyable for everyone. The afternoon was finished off with visits to Hootz House & Wild Rootz the indoor and outdoor play areas that were fantastic fun. Everyone went home happy, exhausted, a little damp, but having had an exciting, fun time. No Life Preservers had to be used during our visit which made all of the Leaders very happy.
